Westcott has put together this FJ200 Strobe 1-Light Backpack Kit with FJ-X2m Universal Wireless Trigger and Rapid Box Switch Octa-S to give shooters the means to take this high-performing flash head on the road. The kit includes an FJ-X2m Wireless Radio Trigger, a USB cable, one FJ200 with a lithium-ion polymer battery, AC adapter, 5.5″ reflector, CTO and diffusion gel set, and an insert for the included 26″ Rapid Box Switch Octa-S softbox. A Lite Traveler Backpack is provided to take it all on the road.
Westcott FJ200 Strobe
Employing the familiar, intuitive monolight form factor, Westcott has rolled out the FJ200 Strobe with power, fast response, and the asset of a removable, rechargeable, lithium-ion polymer battery that will give you 450 full-power flashes on a 2-hour charge. The FJ200 has a 9-stop power range in 0.1 stop increments and recycles in a fast 0.5 to 1.3 seconds. It is backed by a 1/20,000 peak action-stopping flash duration in Freeze Mode, is capable of 20 fps, and supports High Speed Sync up to 1/8000 second as well as front and rear curtain sync.
One of the FJ200’s exciting features is its TTL option. The flash has an integrated 16-channel, 32-group, 2.4 GHz receiver that with separate purchase of a FJ-X2m Wireless Trigger or FJ80 Universal Speedlight, will accept TTL signals at distances up to 328′ from Canon, Nikon, Sony (with adapter), FUJIFILM, Panasonic Lumix, and Olympus cameras. The flash has a 5/8″ receiver to mount on industry-standard light stands, as well as a USB-C port for Windows and Mac firmware updates. Westcott generously provides a reflector, travel case, 30-degree grid, and a USB cable.

Westcott FJ-X2m
Like the receiver that’s built into the flash head, the FJ-X2m Universal Flash Trigger from Westcott has 16 wireless channels and 6 groups to avoid interference with other photographers or to shoot multiple setups. It’s also Bluetooth capable with the ability to create four additional groups via a free mobile app among other features. The FJ-X2m is compatible with Canon, Nikon, Sony with an adapter, FUJIFILM, Panasonic Lumix, and Olympus cameras and has wide adjustment control of the FJ200’s functions including TTL Mode, High-Speed Sync, Rear Curtain Sync, Canon RT flash compatibility, group and channel assignment, group exposure compensation, and modeling lamp settings. And it can do all of this at distances up to 985′! The FJ-X2m runs on a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, and among its convenience features offers a tiltable shoe to accommodate user preference.
Westcott Switch Octa-S
As the name “Switch” hints, Westcott has introduced a line of softboxes designed for setup and rapid swapping out of different brands of strobes and speedlights in seconds. The 26″ Rapid Box Switch Octa-S Softbox is a good choice for use in the studio or on location for portraits, fashion, or corporate work. The large surface area of the softbox gives its output a wraparound quality especially when used close up. Another benefit is the reflection of natural-looking catchlights in your subject’s eyes. As indicated in the name, the softbox has a basic ring to hold it together, but instead of full speed rings, 13 “inserts” are available and are required for a speedlight or specific brand of strobe. The quick release thumb-lock on the Rapid Box Switch ensures the security of your light. Besides the benefit of speed, the softbox is structurally sound with durable metal framework, heat-resistant fabric, and a reflective silver interior that maximizes your light source’s output. The Rapid Box Switch Octa’s diffusion material has also been thoroughly tested and found to be neutral, ensuring a true rendition of color. A carry case is included for storage and transport.
